What Is a Sculptformer? Meet the Machine Behind Erabelle's High-Intensity Pilates

Meet the Sculptformer
If you've seen photos of our High-Intensity Pilates studio and wondered, What exactly is that machine? — you're not alone.
Erabelle's High-Intensity Pilates classes are performed on Sculptformer machines.
If you've used a Pilates reformer, Megaformer or another resistance-based fitness machine before, the Sculptformer may look somewhat familiar. But the equipment and the programming used on it are distinct.
How Does a Sculptformer Work?
The Sculptformer uses a moving carriage and adjustable resistance to support a wide variety of exercises.
That allows us to challenge the body through resistance and controlled movement rather than relying solely on traditional weights or high-impact cardio.
During an Erabelle class, you'll move through exercises designed to challenge multiple muscle groups while requiring stability and control.
Your instructor will guide you through equipment setup and movement transitions throughout the workout.
Sculptformer vs. Traditional Pilates Reformer
Traditional reformer Pilates and High-Intensity Pilates can share some familiar concepts, including controlled movement and spring-based resistance.
The experience, however, can feel very different.
Traditional Pilates classes may place greater emphasis on classical Pilates exercises and technique, depending on the studio and instructor.
Erabelle's High-Intensity Pilates programming is designed to create a more strength-forward, high-intensity experience while maintaining the low-impact qualities many people appreciate about resistance-based training.
Neither approach is inherently better — they simply provide different workout experiences.
Is a Sculptformer a Megaformer?
No.
The Megaformer is proprietary equipment associated with the Lagree Method. Erabelle does not teach Lagree and does not use Megaformers.
Our classes use Sculptformer equipment and Erabelle's own High-Intensity Pilates programming.
We make that distinction intentionally because we want members to understand exactly what they're booking.
What If I've Taken Lagree Before?
If you've taken Lagree, Megaformer classes or another high-intensity resistance-based workout, portions of the experience may feel familiar.
You'll encounter resistance, controlled movement and exercises designed to challenge muscular endurance.
But you should come expecting the Erabelle method, not a Lagree class.
What If I've Never Used One?
Even better — you don't need any previous experience.
We'll introduce you to the equipment and explain what you need to know before class begins.
Our goal isn't for you to walk in already knowing the terminology. That's our job.
Your job is simply to show up.

The Sculptformer allows us to bring the kind of challenging, resistance-based movement we love to Erabelle while creating a method and experience that is distinctly ours.
Combined with our barre programming, playroom and community-centered studio experience, it's one more piece of what we're building differently in Littleton.
We'll see you on the Sculptformer.
